COMMITTED TO TOURISM MANAGEMENT AIMED AT GENERATING CONSTANT POSITIVE IMPACTS ON LOCALITIES AND STAKEHOLDERS INVOLVED

We all seek sustainable tourism, but this desire often seems utopian, not very tangible, and even contradictory to the results we observe in most destinations and even in initiatives which promote sustainability principles.

So, is there a way? We believe there is, and that the key is commitment and management focused on constantly generating results which benefit not only the conservation of the environment and culture, but also the social and economic conditions of the stakeholders involved. It is not a matter of an isolated action carried out periodically to generate short-term impacts, such as cleaning beaches or a food campaign for people with fewer resources.

Tourism management intertwines all the actions and actors of an organization. That is why we work to transform it through systems that facilitate and ensure compliance with standards and decision-making that will lead to lasting positive impacts on the environmental, cultural, economic, and social aspects of the area of influence. We are convinced that consistent changes, even when small, generate great transformations.

TourCert Qualified

“We recognize the commitment and initial changes of the company and tourism ventures to raise their standards of social, economic and environmental impact.”

  • Outcome: Accurate knowledge of strengths and opportunities for improvement in the management of your company, and implementation of three to five actions that lead to increase your environmental, social, or economic impact standards.
  • Target Audience: The process can be carried out by companies in the tourism sector such as tour operators, travel agencies, lodging and restaurants; and community tourism ventures.
  • Process: First, a commitment to self-evaluation and continuous improvement is signed and training is provided on the aspects to be evaluated; subsequently, a self-evaluation is carried out to identify the organization’s strengths and weaknesses. Finally, three to five measures must be implemented in the short term to demonstrate the commitment to improve internal management.
  • Time: The process can take between 1 to 3 months for companies in the tourism sector and 6 months for community-based tourism enterprises.

TourCert Certification

“We do not certify sustainability, but the management that ensures compliance with high social, environmental and business standards”.

  • Result: Ordered, standardized, and documented management processes which facilitate the team and the organization to carry out strategic planning, constant monitoring of results and necessary adjustments in a timely manner.

  • Target: The process can be carried out by companies in the tourism sector, such as tour operators, travel agencies, lodgings, restaurants, community tourism ventures and tourist destinations.

  • Process: There are three stages that include the diagnosis and implementation of the systems accompanied by an advisor assigned by us, as the first and second stage. Finally, the third stage includes the visit of an external auditor who will review that the processes comply with the sustainability criteria. However, it is the Peruvian Certification Council that confirms the granting of the seal, after reviewing certain documents.
  • Time: The process can take between 3 to 5 months for companies in the tourism sector, 8 months for community tourism enterprises and one year for tourist destinations.

Projects

We develop projects that impact the planning of tourism destinations together with organizations committed to lasting results.

  • Result: Implementation of a project management system that strengthens tourism stakeholders in a destination, that allows a viable long-term management and is focused on continuous results, replicable and aligned to regional and/or national policies.

  • Target: Destination management organizations, local and regional governments.
  • Process: First we get to know the profile of the organization that will finance the project and the resources available for implementation. Afterwards, we will define a baseline of the destination that will allow us to analyze its needs and align expectations towards concrete results, as well as a work plan adapted to the needs and risks of the place.

  • Time: To be determined in coordination with the funding organization and the destination’s stakeholders, according to the initial assessment.
